Couple sue City of San Marcos for refusing them to remove symbol they believe to be tied to KKK

A San Marcos couple, Kristy Money and Rolf Straubhaar, is suing the city after being denied permission to remove a decorative iron “Z” from their historic home. The symbol, linked to a former mayor with ties to the Ku Klux Klan, represents values the couple does not support. The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals recently allowed their case to proceed after a lower court dismissed it. They argue the city violated their property rights by refusing the removal.
