A Texas couple has filed a lawsuit seeking more than $1.5 million after allegedly discovering what appeared to be a “condom-like foreign object” embedded in chicken purchased from a Houston-area Popeyes. According to the lawsuit, Justin Howard and Danielle McKinnon purchased the meal on July 25, 2026, and became physically nauseated after Howard bit into the chicken and discovered the object.
The plaintiffs allege restaurant employees laughed at and humiliated them when they returned to complain and initially attempted to replace the food rather than investigate the incident. The lawsuit asserts claims including negligence, gross negligence, negligent hiring and training, products liability, breach of warranty, and violations of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act. Popeyes said it reviewed internal video and found no evidence validating the claim, but said the franchisee refunded the customers and closed the restaurant early for retraining.
