Harris County Jury Awards $61.5 Million in Watson Grinding Explosion Case

A Harris County jury awarded $61.5 million to 24 survivors of the deadly 2020 Watson Grinding explosion. The verdict stems from allegations that 3M failed to properly inspect the facility’s gas detection system before the blast. It marks the third verdict against 3M in litigation arising from the explosion, including a previous $118 million award. 3M disputes the verdict and says it plans to appeal.
