The family of Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy Erika Serrato has filed a wrongful death lawsuit after the 24-year-old deputy was struck and killed by a commercial truck while assisting at a crash scene on I-45 North. Attorney Brant Stogner represents Serrato’s parents and estate in the lawsuit against the driver and several companies. The suit alleges the driver fell asleep while traveling approximately 65 mph and failed to slow down or move over despite emergency lights ahead. It also alleges the corporate defendants failed to properly hire, train, supervise, and retain the driver.
